This is the result of my participation to a responsible artist's project "discrimination."
I chose to create a series of three paintings entitled "Merchandising" to show that a discriminatory look is an impersonal look. I thought when looking at a person by detracting him, it is like looking at a product sale in a supermarket. We just consider him as his "packaging".
Thus in the three works I denounce three types of discrimination:
- Sex discrimination: In France, average women earn 12% less than men.
- Discrimination on age: a 45-50 years person has a hard time finding work. It is considered being "obsolete".
- Racial Discrimination: too often judged on their origines, people do not have the chance to show their true qualities and defects.
